New M&P model from S&W: M&P Shield

This looks really neat, but the trigger area is pretty small for a larger finger! Guess they are trying to compete with the LC9 and PF9.

Beats me why they put a safety on it. It is a double action only, striker fired, same as the M&P and the M&Pc.

After carrying the FS and compact with no thumb safety I would not want to have a safety to mess with when I am forced to carry the pocket pistol. I will stick with my Kel-Tec P3AT until S&W offers the Shield without a thumb safety. (My training/practice is in no safety mode.)

It will be interesting to find out if it can be removed. I'm surprised the lawers don't have the manufactures putting thumb safetys on revolvers.
