I had to pass on this course a few months ago...going to hit it next month! Looking to take the next step in upping my level of training...it should help my IDPA scores as well I know we've had alot of new shooters at the local IDPA matches this year and would reccommend that everyone look into taking some added training as a way to improve and expand ones knowledge and skills! Greg is a member here as well...as are other trainers/instructors...I'm looking into classes with other member/instructors here as well. Gene From the sign-in page at OneSourceTactical: June 09-10 Defensive Pistol Skills Searsboro, IA Instructor: Greg Nichols All training must begin with fundamentals. This comprehensive fundamentals class is designed to prep you for the more advanced courses such as Close Range Gunfighting. Through a carefully designed and detailed curriculum we are able to bring you up to a level of skill in a short two day class that previously would take over 4 or 5 days to achieve at other schools. You will learn a complete presentation of the modern combative technique of the pistol which will put you in good standing for any defensive situations you may encounter in the real world. No experience or prior training is needed to attend this class and it is specially suitable for beginners, or as a tune-up for accomplished shooters. The DPS class was fantastic! Damn hot there this weekend but the SPF50 and frequent water breaks kept things tolerable weather-wise. Greg threw a lot of info at us and walked us through the why's of the info presented. The course description stated 300 rounds but I think everyone went through nearly 500 by the end of day two....hell, what else ya gonna do at a shooting range! The day end after-action-discussions were helpful as well as it gave us a chance to take some notes and rehash the information relayed in a more relaxed atmosphere. Safety, practice technique, loading/unloading, grip/stance/breathing, marksmanship, drawstroke, reloads, malfunction clearing were all covered in depth...trigger control and follow through are things I've been taught before and Greg had a great way of hammering these points home, not by "hammering" per say but in the way he presented the issues. Learning different ways of regaining the upper hand in a bad situation, forcing the "bad guys" to have to rethink their gameplan...a big take-away for me was the mindset material Greg brought up during our training and at our water-breaks starting with the Think-Move-Shoot process. Had a great time with a great group of brother warriors...brushed up on some rusty areas, learned alot of new things, and have a new outlook on life in general! Gene ps....Greg touched on some of what is covered in some of the more advanced classes such as moving, getting-off-the-x, and demonstrated to us some of the methods that would be covered in those classes......I can't wait til I can make it to another class with Greg and SI...not to mention the soon to be released SuarezTacticalFightingUnicorn patches
