I have not seen any in Iowa, even at gun shows. I saw some at Cabela's in Owatonna over New Year's. they are really cool and do really look similar to a 1911. They look like they are high quality, but very blocky with sharp edges, still nice though. I would be torn between that and a Desert Eagle, which I have shot a few times and LOVE.

I actually shot one at the JAX shootout this last fall, superbly accurate and even with everyone in earplugs you knew from across the range when someone let it rip! Recoil felt lighter than a revolver as well.

As a matter of fact, I just happen to be the proud owner of 2 of these critters. Have one each of the mod A and the mod B. Have had these for 20-25 years and even got a chance to handle the original prototype, way back, long time ago. As KaTo srtated, the recoil is very manageable but they are LOUD!!

I remember shooting those. In the past 20'ish years since doing so my hearing is almost back to normal LOL.

I have a good freind of mine who has one , shot it a couple times , has some good recoil and LOUD.

As a note of interest: I don't know about now, but back "in the day" they sold a 38 spl conversion kit for the Coonan. Also, it was explicitly stated, on paper, that there was no guarantee of any kind. But, that was there because of the legality of things. Verbally, both Dan and Bill would assure you that if there was any problem, they would make it right.

A dealer has one at the Altoona gun show and it is priced at $1200.00. Sees to be the only one that's there.
