Hi,
I'm JD and I reside in Conrad (Grundy Co) and work in Marshalltown.
I am originally from MI, with CA, PA, and VA in between then and now. We've been in Iowa for just shy of three years.
I dived head first into concealed carry around the end of '03 after that Spring Break Vacation to Iraq that lasted till just before I left active duty (USMC)
I've been married for almost 7 years. We have a 3yr old son and a month old daughter.
My wife and I have been staff members on another gun forum for a number of years. She is an NRA Certified Instructor in Basic Pistol & Home Firearms Safety as well as the Refuse to be a Victim Instructor.
I am an NRA Instructor/Training Counselor as well but we're taking a break from holding classes till we get more acclimated to having two children etc.
I'm pretty active in the shooting sports, mainly IDPA and will be heading up the Black Hawk Pistol Club's IDPA matches this season. I also shoot IDPA over in Ames.
I shot in the Iowa River Gun Club's bullseye matches for two season but have taken this year off due to the arrival of our daughter...
I'm mostly into handguns but like to run the rifles as well.
Please to see another Iowa specific forum out there.

Welcome, JD. And congrats on the arrival of your little girl.
Nice to see more "experts" around.
I'm currently out of town in South Korea, and won't return until summer. Can't shoot here! I'm not military. Will be happy to return home so I can shoot again.

I have a couple HKs, but my favorite so far is the full-size HK45 which is a "refined" (pending on perspective) version of the USP
