Just would like to get a diversity of opinions, here. The idea was presented to me, at a gunshow, that I develop and teach a reloading type of training course. My questions to you are, do you think such a thing is needed? What subjects do you think that it should cover? How much do you think should be charged for such training? How long should the training be?

I actually like the idea of it. Might put more people at ease if they had some assistance getting their feet wet. When I started I was very apprehensive about it all. It seemed like there was so much to take in. I wanted a short step by step.procedure that explained the basics and the most important things to consider to protect myself and my firearm. It actually took me awhile before I built up the nerve to actually do it. I would start with basic loads right from a manual. How to select the proper powder, bullet, and primer. And how to read the actual load charts in a manual. Safety would have to.be covered as well. Then I would show how to prep the cases and then move into the actual reloading. If would be a big plus if students could actually.load some of their own ammo. I would also discuss the most often created problems. Kind of a what not to do. Maybe include a final inspection before the students possibly being able to fire the ammo they just reloaded. If the class was small I would it could be covered in a day. As far as price.....I'd really have no.idea.

The NRA has a reloading class, there's a Training Counselor down near DSM (Central Iowa Shooting Sports) that should be able to do the Reloading Instructor Course. That would probably be the best way to go about doing this.

Wow, didn't know about the reloading class. That's good to know.
Just goes to show that the NRA is involved in a lot more than shooting events and arguing for gun rights.
