I frequent this 1911 board, and was surprised to see these photos, followed by other photos by owners. It seems like "some" of the frames don't exactly have clean cuts near the grip safety. Take a look through these pages. I wonder if Ruger is letting their quality-control go downhill due to the huge demand for these 1911's? forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=341258&page=3Oh, and I haven't heard of one in-stock for sale in Iowa yet. Has anyone seen one around? What was the price?

I saw one @ Scheels over by Iowa City, I think it was around $750 but this was a few months ago.
As for Ruger, take a look at their recalls of the SR9, LCP etc. They are known for having some issues with new releases and their guns have never been know for being manufactured works of art.
Looking at the pics, It's nothing I would be concerned over, it's a stainless gun and a little time with some emery cloth would probably clean up most of that. It looks like it's a tooling issue or a batch of guns missed a finishing stage or something. Ruger will eventually fix it, but it does give buyers something to look for when handling SR1911s.
FWIW I also tend to think of "that forum" as being full of prima donnas.
YMMV
